Facebook Rebranded As Meta!!

“Facebook is now Meta,” said Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg during a live stream event on Thursday, announcing the rebranding of the social media giant.
“I am proud to announce that our company is now Meta,” Zuckerberg said, “to reflect who we are and what we hope to build.” “Our mission hasn’t changed; it’s still about bringing people together,” he said, adding that “we are still the company that designs technology around people. “The metaverse will resemble a mix of today’s online social experiences, expanded into three dimensions or projected into the real world at times. It will allow people to share immersive experiences with others even when they are unable to be physically present with them — and to do things together that no one could do in the physical world. It’s the latest in a long line of social technologies, and it marks the beginning of a new era for Facebook. In a founder’s letter, Mark elaborated on this vision. The change was accompanied by a new corporate logo that was designed in the shape of an infinity symbol that was slightly off-kilter. Facebook’s other apps, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, will continue to exist, but under the Meta banner.
They used to study Classics, according to Mark Zuckerberg, and the word “meta” comes from the Greek word “beyond.” It represents the fact that there is always more to be built and a new chapter to the story to be written. Now there’s a story about how something that started in a dorm room grew into a family of apps that people use to connect with one another, find their voice, and start businesses, communities, and movements that have changed the world. Much of this, according to Zuckerberg, is still a long way off, with elements of the metaverse possibly becoming mainstream in five to ten years. Zuckerberg adds
The company has increased its hardware efforts in recent years, releasing a line of Portal video-calling devices, the Ray-Ban Stories glasses, and various versions of the Oculus virtual-reality headsets. In the coming years, the company has stated that augmented and virtual reality will be a key part of its strategy that the company expects to “invest many billions of dollars for years to come before the metaverse reaches scale.” “We believe the metaverse will be the mobile internet’s successor,” Zuckerberg said.
The demonstration was a Pixar-style animation of software that the company hopes to develop in the future. Users could hang out in space as cartoon versions of themselves or fantastical characters, such as a robot, who represented their virtual selves in the demo. Part of it was used by Zuckerberg to accuse other tech companies of suffocating innovation by charging high developer fees.
The rebranding comes after Frances Haugen, a former employee turned whistleblower, released a trove of internal company documents to news outlets, lawmakers, and regulators earlier this month.
Nonetheless, Mr. Zuckerberg hailed the concept as “the successor to the mobile internet” on Thursday, claiming that mobile devices would no longer be the focal point. He also stated that the metaverse’s building blocks were already available. In a demonstration, he showed a digital avatar of himself that could travel to various digital worlds while conversing with friends and family from anywhere on the planet.
